Indonesia’s National Alms Agency (Baznas) is seeking to re-establish the country’s membership in the Islamic Solidarity Fund (ISF).
To this end, Baznas Chairperson Noor Achmad visited the ISF headquarters in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Friday.
In a release, Achmad highlighted Indonesia’s previous contributions, including over 5 million US dollars in aid to Palestine channeled through Egypt and Jordan.
He expressed hope for a renewed partnership with the ISF to expand humanitarian assistance to the Muslim world.
Baznas aims to centralize Indonesia’s aid requests through the ISF, ensuring efficient coordination with government agencies and ISF member states.
Achmad expressed optimism about Indonesia regaining its seat on the ISF’s Permanent Council and actively contributing to the fund’s initiatives.
“Hopefully, with this visit, concrete cooperation between ISF and Baznas can be established to provide greater benefits and blessings to the people,” he remarked.
ISF Executive DirectorMuhammad bin Sulaiman Aba Al-Khail welcomed Baznas’ visit, acknowledging Indonesia’s past support as a member of the ISF Permanent Council from 1978 to 1980.
Established in 1974, the ISF is a subsidiary of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) dedicated to providing aid to Muslim communities worldwide.
